4.5/5
In the heart of Verona’s historic center, just a few steps from the Arena, the Filarmonic Theatre, and the Palazzo della Gran Guardia, Il Cenacolo is a refined restaurant housed in an ancient palace. Since 1980, it has been a reference point for those seeking Italian and Veronese cuisine in an elegant setting, suitable for romantic dinners, business lunches, celebrations, and private events. The menu highlights the culinary tradition of the region with dishes such as Valeggio tortellini and Amarone risotto, complemented by a wide selection of meats cooked in view of the large fireplace. The wine list features Italian and regional labels designed to best accompany the menu. Special attention is also given to vegetarians, coeliacs, and food intolerances.

Had the most incredible birthday dinner here! The atmosphere was very welcoming, our server Andrea was incredibly helpful and attentive, and the food was perfect. My husband and I both had the chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings, it was fantastic and I definitely recommend coming hungry! The staff really went above and beyond to make me feel special on my birthday, even turning down the lights, playing the happy birthday song, and bringing out a beautiful heart shaped tiramisu! Grazie!!

The Hotel Giberti recommended this restaurant for our last night in Italy and it did not disappoint ! Several reviews talked about the tasting menu which was a special treat of non-stop delicious food and four different wines. We enjoyed every bite! I will be making their baked mushrooms stuffed with pesto for our next Italian night at home! I would highly recommend Il Cenocola if you are looking for a fine-dining experience. It was a memorable meal for us. We arrived by taxi, but if you are walking, please note that the front door is tucked in a corner so could be hard to spot.

Amazing set menu, excellent and helpful service. Didn’t get a picture of the tiramisu but it was delicious! Meat cooked on a coal fire, which was also delicious and cooked perfectly. Definitely a quiet hidden gem ! Set menu really good value at about €50 pp without wine, but the wine is great.

Great restaurant, seated us without reservation. One of the best services I’ve had. The waiters are very tranquil and considerate. They also comply to some non-standard requirements would you wish to have them. Food is great. The (red wine) risotto is the best I’ve had. The meat was very tender, and grilled medium, like requested. The products are very nicely compiled , and the different textures compliment each other perfectly. Never had a good Tiramisu, hence I started wondering whether I like Tiramisu at all. But this Tiramusu was by far the best one I’ve ever had, and made me realize that I was missing out all this time. The restaurant isn’t very visible from outside, its in a corner. And Google Maps might even navigate you to the back alley, so there is a chance you will miss this restaurant.

I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for somewhere to have an upscale dinner in Verona. It is slightly expensive, but the food is worth the price. Everything was delicious; I was particularly a fan of the truffle dishes and recommend their millefoglie with raspberry sauce for dessert. The dishes come in smaller portion sizes, but this is typical of any fancy restaurant. The atmosphere is cosy and we received a free glass of prosecco after being seated. The staff are also highly attentive. It’s a popular place so make sure you book a reservation!

The food and wine are top-quality, with impeccable service and a perfect location (literally steps from the Verona Arena). The atmosphere is both elegant and welcoming. Highly recommended.

What a find! The experience begins the time you walk in the door. You are greeted by this welcoming, cozy, and elegant decor, and by a terrific staff. The food is expertly done. I highly recommend the steak chateaubriand, which is cooked in the "fireplace" you see as you walk in. The prices are above the average for Italy, but they are very reasonable considering the full experience you get. Parking is tough, like it is anywhere else around Verona.

What can I say... I feel confident in having tried the entire menu, a real treat. The quality of the ingredients is top-notch, the dishes are meticulously crafted, and the flavors are expertly paired. I recommend it for both a quick meal and a more formal dinner. The meat is delicious!

Very iconic place in Verona. Great food, incredibly atmosphere and perfect service! Upon request I got their signature dish “pan fried buffalo mozzarella” gluten free suitable for celiacs! Simply BEAUTIFUL! Highly recommended. I’ll definitely come back
